Walking tour in the Filigosu State Forest (Oschiri)

For nature and environment lovers, one of the most suggestive visits in the Sardinian hinterland is the Filigosu forest. It is a forest complex that extends in the central-northern area of the island with a surface area of 3952.3 hectares between the municipalities of Oschiri and Berchidda. Adjacent to the Monte Lerno state forest, is characterised by a large formation of cork oak forests which alternate with low Mediterranean scrub, including cistus, heather, myrtle, broom, rosemary, and high scrub, with phillyrea, strawberry tree, mastic and juniper.

The visit stops at the locality of Su Romasinu where some stand house of Janas as evidence of a pre-Nuragic community.

It is easy to reach from Oschiri, along the old road to Olbia, the state road 729, following the signs that lead both to the Su Filigosu Forest and to the clittle church of Otti which can be reached with a detour, in just over a kilometer.
